ZERO TO THREE Launches Podcast on Mental Health in the Earliest Years of Life

The Earliest Podcast

The Earliest takes a deep and personal look into the impact of pregnancy, birth, and trauma on early childhood

Today, ZERO TO THREE is thrilled to announce the launch of a new podcast, The Earliest. The show explores mental health in the earliest years of life. The first season of the podcast is hosted by ZERO TO THREE Chief Marketing Officer Ernestine Benedict and features a four-episode series. Listeners embark on a journey with early childhood expert, doula, and mother Elizabeth Pihlaja, where she fearlessly shares the joy and trauma of bringing her first baby from the womb into the world. Expert contributors Kathleen Mulrooney and Jennifer Boss also join to discuss what is working, what is not, and where to go from here.

“Our mental health journeys begin before we ever leave the womb and shape who we become,” said Benedict. “We hope listeners will connect to this moving story and gain an understanding of the early connections that are foundational to lifelong health and wellness and why it’s so important.”

The Earliest arrives as families across the country are experiencing higher levels of loneliness while reporting lower levels of emotional support than before the pandemic. “We’ve widened the lens on how we view mental health and created a safe space to listen, reflect, and connect with a topic that matters to everyone,” Benedict added.

The Earliest is available now on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Stitcher and more. New episodes will be released every Thursday throughout May, coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Month. Click here to listen and subscribe.
