The Expectation Gap
Tuning In: National Parent Survey
ZERO TO THREE and the Bezos Family Foundation are excited to share the findings from a comprehensive research effort of parents of children aged birth to five.
Tuning In: Parents of Young Children Tell Us What They Think, Know and Need revealed that a majority of parents believe children start developing self-control early in life – much earlier than brain science indicates is possible.
The disconnect between what many parents believe and the realistic ability of children to master self-control results in an important expectation gap that can cause a lot of frustration and stress for both parents and children.
To fill this Expectation Gap, we offer a range of resources to guide parents in knowing what to expect and how to nurture the development of self-control in their young children below.
