The Be Well Care Well program is an initiative that promotes and supports the well-being of early childhood educators providers working in childcare programs so that they are better equipped for the challenges of their daily work. The objective of the Be Well Care Well program is to build resiliency in childcare providers to reduce and buffer the effects of stress and hardship, and in so doing, improve their ability to meet the social-emotional and learning needs of the young children in their care. Initial evaluation results demonstrated significant positive changes in many aspects central to the BWCW program initiatives, including the quality of teacher-child interactions, distinguishing the Be Well Care Well strategy as a promising approach.
The high levels of stress, depression, and poor psychical health of child care providers is widely recognized, as is the impact their well-being can have on the children in their care. However, there are almost no state or community level interventions designed to address the issue. This learning experience will share an evidence informed program that can be implemented broadly to improve stress, burnout, physical health and nutrition in child care providers.
