Songs, Rhymes, and Fingerplays in English and Spanish

Songs Rhymes Fingerplays 2

This resource includes Spanish translations of traditional American children’s songs to be used in bilingual playgroups for infants, toddlers, and their families.

Project Family, a member of ZERO TO THREE’s Cornerstones Learning and Development Network, provides services across Arlington County, Virginia for low-income, predominately Latino families with young children.

In Project Family’s playgroups for parents, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, songs and rhymes are highlights of each session. Songs are fun, of course, but they also serve to expose families and young children to American culture and English. The transition to child care center or preschool may be smoother if a child already knows the patterns of common songs, or the tune to “The Wheels on the Bus.”

Project Family has graciously granted ZERO TO THREE permission to publish this selection of the Developmental Playgroup’s favorite songs, rhymes, and fingerplays for use in other classrooms and playgroups.
