Shana King’s Journey with Safe Babies

In partnership with Safe Babies, Shana is using her personal experience in the child welfare system to support families.

Shana King, a mother from North Dakota’s Fort Berthold Reservation, found the support needed to reunite with her children after overcoming personal challenges through Safe Babies, a program of ZERO TO THREE.

Today, Shana serves as a parent leader, advocating for Native American families and guiding Safe Babies with her lived experience. Her dedication uplifts families facing similar challenges, reinforcing the program’s mission to support resilience in communities.

“There were several people who really were instrumental in helping me become successful and reunify with my kids. They really believed in me and it made me want to do that type of work.”
