Jazmyn Covington, MPH, is a ZERO TO THREE Fellow. She is Program Director of Home Visiting at the Family League of Baltimore.
Ms. Jazmyn Covington is Program Director of Home Visiting at the Family League of Baltimore, where she provides programmatic support to the Healthy Families America (HFA) Home Visiting programs in Baltimore City.
HFA is an evidence-based model that promotes child well-being and prevents abuse and neglect through home visiting services that strive to empower families and communities. These HFA programs are a part of the B’more for Healthy Babies (BHB) initiative, which seeks to improve birth outcomes and decrease infant mortality in Baltimore.
Ms. Covington has been instrumental in leading the BHB Equity Workgroup, which was designed to ensure that every family has the opportunity to have a thriving baby and ultimately child, despite race, neighborhood, or socioeconomic status. She currently co-leads the city’s BabyStat Coalition, which brings together key home visiting stakeholders to review citywide home visiting indicators and develop strategies for improvement. Ms. Covington recently served on the Maternal and Child Health Taskforce for the State of Maryland, and she also participates in the Reproductive Health Equity Alliance of Maryland.
Ms. Covington earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hampton University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She works diligently to ensure that programs and policies that exist within her portfolio are equitable and in the best interest of the families that we serve. Ms. Covington prioritizes thinking critically about the unintended consequences that our actions and personal biases may have on communities, and how these consequences may be exacerbated by race.
