Senior Director of Programs
Reflection can help to focus our attention on the importance, the beauty, and the fragility of relationships. By putting relationships at the heart of our work, we acknowledge the profound effect that others have on us (and that we have on others).

What the mission means to Rebecca

I believe in the power of human connection to transform the world. Luckily, ZERO TO THREE does too. What is unique about ZERO TO THREE is our relentless focus on the importance of relationships. We believe that nurturing, respectful relationships—with families, with children, with colleagues, with community leaders—are the “secret sauce” to providing high quality services in the early childhood field. By shifting our focus to the power of connection, I believe we can accomplish amazing things, together.

Professional Background

Rebecca’s career has focused on the development and dissemination of high-quality resources for professionals and parents. She now serves as Senior Director of Programs at ZERO TO THREE where she leads a portfolio of work related to TTA delivery, child development, parenting, and early education. For over two decades, her work has supported programs and systems in their efforts to design engaging spaces and experiences—ones that invite infants and toddlers (and their adults!) to learn, discover, explore, and connect through rich play and meaningful relationships. She has co-authored five parenting/professional curricula, including the Early Connections parent education program and Problem Solvers, an early STEM curriculum. In addition, she has authored hundreds of articles, blogs, and more on parenting and early learning, and serves as editor and regular contributor to the Rocking and Rolling column (focused on infant-toddler care) in Young Children.

Rebecca also leads ZERO TO THREE’s parenting/grandparenting resource development and outreach efforts. She is frequently engaged as a parenting and child development expert by media outlets (see NPR, Washington Post and New York Times pieces), and has trained professionals both within the U.S. and internationally. Rebecca holds a Master’s degree in infant/toddler special education from the George Washington University where she taught for a decade as an adjunct professor.
